Well, here's the pen I asked you all about. Finally cracked the assembly but the window/slot was a nightmare. The ca finish kept chipping and after re-polishing the slot needed cleaning out again which chipped again........
Might do another using acrylic but definitely not wood!
The clock display is also very temperamental and is difficult to see in low light also.
All in all not a resounding success.:sob:

That must have been a nightmare to sort, some of us struggle with just drilling a hole down the middle of a blank, never mind cutting out a window, so a rather big well done for that.

I think your perseverance has paid off & it is a rather nicely turned pen, but, I think I can see why no-one makes them now.

Yep kudos for persevering with it ! I'd have binned it in frustration.

Nicely made all the same and maybe as you say in acrylic it may be easier.

Not seen these kits before.

Never done one of those and thanks for posting it, looks like you've done a sterling job, looks very fiddle cutting the holes for the clock.

Well done, you've done a great job there. I can see why the ca would keep chipping off and how difficult it would be to get on in the first place.

Hopefully one in Acrylic will be much easier to finish.

well done - good result - 10 out of 10 for patience and perseverance. i purchased one of these about 12 months ago, read the instructions and haven't had the confidence to turn it yet. think it may stay in the draw a bit longer!! andrew

A lot of time and effort has obviously gone into that, well done.
