With all the struggle people are having trying to turn Corian and white materials for their weeding pens, I thought I would have a little play.
Done on a kit that is easy to strip and redo if it don't work I chose the Sierra for my experiment.
This Sierra came this week in the post and I am really disappointed with the quality, I get further disillusioned every time I open a packet these days.
On assembly the parts fell into the tube, the only thing holding it together is the way they fit.
The tube is oversized by a good 1mm I can spin it now fully assembled, more bloody rubbish I have been sold.
Back to the point, I slung a cheap piece of bland ol soft pine on the spinner and turned it down finishing with 600 grit scratch.
Sealed it with two coats of thin CA then took it off and dipped it white primer (of the automotive paint variety), when dried (approx 5 minutes) dipped it again.
Returned it to the lathe and started a CA process of about 5 coats and a quick squirt of toothpaste to polish it job done.
Why do you want to mess about with joining plastic when all you need is a pot of paint..
Sorry about the poor quality of the pic I have just downgraded to Microsoft for tests and looking for a suitable cropper resizer that ain't full of bloat.
