Here it is, final job after making a new router jig to run better on my lath rather than a modified one.

Kit - Vertex PSI chrome

Blank - Ghost Gum from Mark wm460

Finish - Dipping method.. First time to actually commit to using this method but not convinced I have it right yet. but may not have the right poly so will look in to that next time..

Really enjoyed doing this, may even have a go at the workshop pencil kit now to see how that comes out..:thinks:

As a maker of these for so many years I congratulate you Eamonn. On my way to Church I pass a street planted in Ghost Gum. They seem to produce burls almost while you watch. The local government cut them all the time ,never did find out what they are like.

I will take some pics of them this week.

With your beaut pen how did the biro come through? This kit varies a lot. Careful sizing mate and a lovely presentation. I make the hexes line up with the biro extended.

Peter.

I literally leaped out of the Dentist following the best scale and clean (no p-ain) ever through the process I came home grabbed the camera . This is one street of Ghost Gums 2nd tree burl. The rest have been deburled recently.

Being the Govt gives cheap treatment every 2 yrs to oldfellas the bill today was 12 dollars.......Yipee.

Very nice...i bought a pen wizard to do this....not set it up yet...bugger:thumbs:

I had looked at them when they first came out but couldn't warrant the price of them. :rolling:

Modifying my dads old sledge worked, but the price of a new router sledge home made out of wood I already had in stock was the zero cost option.

When I made this I thought of you as I know you have been making them for some time now, what I had seen of yours inspired me to get this one done.

Thanks for the Ghost Gum tree pictures.. much appreciated.

This is the twin ghost gums near Alice Springs, where the wood came from.
These tree were made famous by Albert Namatjira painting see second link.

The have been burnt a few years ago, some one that I know, that was cleaning up the remains, keep a couple bits for me.
They wanted a couple pens made from them.

Thanks for the information, always nice to hear where they have come from.

I noticed on the Black Wattle blank you had written on it "TC Black Wattle" does the TC have any relevance?

Noticed it a few times on other blanks as well.:thinks:

No mind reader but a clue is Mark TC, lives in Tennant Creek. In the mountains above the snow line there are miriad Snow Gums all narled and fascinating.
