I wasn't going to show this because it is a failure. It is a modified slimline with an olive wood blank. It's a failure because it was supposed to have a bumpy grip between the lower burnt lines. It was trying out a technique used by Japanese netsuke carvers to raise bumps on a piece of wood. I tried it on a piece of lime and it worked perfectly but obviously the technique doesn't work with Olivewood.

George, can't you show us the bumps you made in the lime? Sounds interesting.

Hi Pierre,I managed to find the stump of lime I tried it on. it is 12mm in diameter and although it was difficult to photography I think it shows the ideas reasonably clearly. I will try it again on a lime wood pen to see if it works out better.
the method is called ukibori.

Love the shape you've put on your pen George. I don't know about ukibori, and I've just had to google it to find out what it's all about. Could it be though that olivewood is too oily for the technique to work?
