Some of you may recall my other threads on this. Anyway the casting didn’t work, the labels didn’t stick to the barrels properly, twice, and I was running out of time to do a third. So I caved in and bought the music pen kit from Axminster.

Bit bulky and heavy for my liking, but nevertheless makes a good gift I think.

As you say a good gift, the turning at the tip, centre and top is ragged, this could be avoided by using sandpaper before turning down too far.

I have not seen that kit before it’s very interesting.

I also like the fact that you shared the tribulations to get to where you wanted to be.. gives us all hope as it does not always go to plan.

Fair comments. I haven’t made a pen for over a year, so I’m a bit rusty.

In reviewing the pen not such a bad thing it is in keeping with that beautiful grain and suitable kit, bear in mind non pen makers are not usually fussed with what I mentioned only to help for the next one.
