New Guinea north of Queensland has exciting timber,this Rosewood called Amboyna is one of them grown in the Island of Vanuatu out quite a way from Queenslands Coast. Sweet smelling and turning timber that holds the grain and colour.

Peter.

I answered an ad,bought a batch of this beautiful timber in blank form,sorted selected and made sure it was sound and dry,stored for years.Cut ,brassed,trimmed and sleeved. Turned and measured and measured and turned. Cleaned and finished and fitted. Was given the wrapping paper by my better half or rather I begged her for one sheet,put it on my photo set up left it there waiting for what I thought was an appropriate time. Voila it came and was used,I am glad I bothered. Four pics to show all round,nothing to hide. I confess there are so many proceedures involved and I did take part in making this beaut pen.Recently charged the battery in the Camera I use for Pen Pics. Went through my purchased Pen Kits and selected one I liked before turning so I could measure the blank through the process before assembly from the actual kit itself. Tongue in cheek John you taking the p...i..ss mate, nothing is casual altogether in this life. Now to make that special present when the time comes.

Kind regards Peter.:goesred:

Another :thumbs::thumbs::thumbs: beaut there Peter.
Looks great turned B2B with the satin finish to get the
feel and look of timber not plastic like CA.

Les
Hi Les,

I personally love the look of a CA finish and Peter has mentioned in the past he puts a couple of coats of CA on some projects.

This pen certainly doesn't look to have the deep gloss of CA. I am very interested in the answer.:thumbs:
