(OK, we all know my photographic skills are pants but I am still learning and not set up my box yet so these are not great but I am doing my best.)
A Trio of Zepher’s (one of each)
My granddaughter who is 5 next month, went on holiday this year with her Mum & Dad to Cornwall and Devon camping.
They love going for long walks around the countryside and seeing what they can find that is “Interesting”
Lily (My Granddaughter) found a branch on the side of one of the small outlets that enters the sea around the area they were in, it was very soft, (Rotten) and looked as though it had been in the water for a very long time.
She was insistent that she wanted to bring it home and give it to Grandad (That will be me then) to make something.
OK, I am not going to disappoint my Granddaughter so let the challenge begin
First off clean it up a bit and try and dry it out, that didn't take as long as I thought and I ended up with a fairly solid(ish) piece of wood that I could actually work with.
It was then soaked in Cactus Juice and Vacuum Pot until it was soaked and then just to make 100% sure I left it soaking for 7 days
Into the oven and slowly baked until totally dry and solid
The end result and some very careful turning are the 3 pens below, one of which Lily has picked out for herself
No idea what the wood is, no idea how long it had been in the water and would I do it all again, for Lily, absolutely :heartbeat:
