Not happy at all with this it didnt look half as bad till I got it in sun light and even worse when I took the pics
But on the plus side although the photo,s are still shite there getting better I hope :thinks:

Looks well turned George :thumbs:

I have also had an issue with small white spots on dark woods that cant be seen by the naked eye but when photographed, there they are :thinks::thinks:

I had a C.A issue Billy had to sand it back and redo it thats wear the white spots came from I think and it was getting close to beer aclock so I was rushing

That could just be dust or abrasive powder in the micro porous holes.
Try a bit of liquid furniture polish on it before going mad at it?

CA on open grain woods nearly always causes a problem Geordie. If it didn't show now it probably would later.
I've taken to using the D+M finish that Walter had as samples the other year, on Rose woods. It gives a satin finish but some woods look better that way.
Nowt wrong with the turning or the shite photo! Easily as good as mine!

The photo is good enough to see the finished pen George, it is well turned and has a good glass finish .. :thumbs:

If you can get a high finish with the skew don't do any sanding George, it helps with the white spots .. :winking:

Beaut pen nice lines looks great from over here and dark pens quite a challenge IMHO to take pics of your mate will write better with this one George.

It's a nice pen George. If I put ca on an open grained wood I put thin ca on the spinning blank then sand straight away back down to the timber. This helps to fill the grain. If needs be I will do it a few times to make sure the grain is filled. Then clean it with meths before applying ca.

George, when you have an open grain wood, put some ca on it and then sand it. the dust and ca combined fills in and hardens the grain. You may have to do it a few times but it works.
