Not happy at all with this it didnt look half as bad till I got it in sun light and even worse when I took the pics
But on the plus side although the photo,s are still shite there getting better I hope
I had a C.A issue Billy had to sand it back and redo it thats wear the white spots came from I think and it was getting close to beer aclock so I was rushing
CA on open grain woods nearly always causes a problem Geordie. If it didn't show now it probably would later.
I've taken to using the D+M finish that Walter had as samples the other year, on Rose woods. It gives a satin finish but some woods look better that way.
Nowt wrong with the turning or the shite photo! Easily as good as mine!
It's a nice pen George. If I put ca on an open grained wood I put thin ca on the spinning blank then sand straight away back down to the timber. This helps to fill the grain. If needs be I will do it a few times to make sure the grain is filled. Then clean it with meths before applying ca.
George, when you have an open grain wood, put some ca on it and then sand it. the dust and ca combined fills in and hardens the grain. You may have to do it a few times but it works.
