A Burr Elm blank that was full of woodworm holes, it came from a large burr riddled with the holes, the woodworm long gone. The blanks that i got from the burr which was worth saving i stabilised them like this one .. The holes can be seen in the pictures fully filled after stabilising ..

CA finish on an Omega Rollerball ..

It looks good, but I think it would look better if the holes weren't so black. Is that how the stabilising resin looks when finished or can you do something to make the contrast less?

Only by adding colour to the resin Peter .. Also it depends on what wood you are stabilising, this wood was punky so the resin will darken due to this .. Oak, is a much lighter colour in the voids?

No criticisms from me, Jim. A lovely pen, indeed! If the black marks bother you then next time use the shaving as infill, and give it another sanding.

Bob.

That wouldn't work as the holes are already filled with solid resin.
