I went to the Yandles show yesterday and bought a couple of pieces of wood, one of which was a piece of oak burr about 750cm long x 450wide and 20mm thick. I cut it up today and I stabilised a piece to see what it would look like. this is the result. Needless to say other pieces have now been stabilised and the entire lot will be done eventually.

This is absolutely a beautiful-looking pen, Paul. One to keep forever...and ever!!!

The more I see stabilised wood the more envious I get. How much does a setup to achieve this cost?

Bob.

To be honest Paul, it looks utter crap. Don't like it at all.

I have seen much better from you, you should know better than dishing up that kind of rubbish on here.:nonono:

So I think you should instantly send all that crap wood over to me so I can take it off you hands to save you from making such utter rubish..::frenchkiss:

Just for the record.. Stunner, really really nice Paul....

I bought it all for under £200 but I think you can do it yourself with a cheaper vac pump and a pickle jar for far less. Its not really the kit that costs the money, its the resin but for the finishes you get I think its very worth it.
