Dan has been kind enough to send me a sample of a future new pen "The Sigma" we know from his postings that this will be a rival to the Pristina.

I get my Pristina's from Timberbits & the sample is very similar, having placed the Sigma & Pristina components side by side & weighed them there's not much in it, the two end caps have similar designs but are different, the biggest difference is the clip.

The two types are the same length & the same outer diameter, so I thought, I can use my Pristinal bushings, no you can't, the inner circumference is smaller on the Sigma.

The required end turned blanks also have slightly different measurements.

All in all I like the kit, very good quality as we have come to expect from Dan and I would be more than happy to buy and place in my line up of pens I turn.

I understand that to add to the differences between the Sigma & Pristina dan is planning to change the pattern on the end caps, this is likely to be to a Union Jack design.

The turned Sigma below is dressed in Yorkshire Laburnum, from Neil in York, not sure on the plating, looks like chrome & gunmetal.

An update from Dan tells me that the plating is Rhodium & Black Ti (adds to the quality for our premium pens)

You really have an eye for selecting blanks Billy.
A lovely looking pen!

Was this a bit from the burning shed? If so I need to have another look in there.:whistling:

Nicey done Billy. For me the though the chrome section at the end on the cap (not finial end) is far too long and looks out of perspective. Just my two pence worth but I wouldn't make the kit as it stands.

Thanks for showing this Billy. Coincidentally I was just adding Pristina's to my basket on TB and thinking I can't afford them right now. I seem remember Dan sending me a gold one some time ago and I'm ashamed to say I haven't done anything with yet, sorry Dan :goesred:, and thanks for sending it, look it out and make it up as soon as I can.

I like the styling and the way you've turned it Billy but with the cap on it looks like the pen end has been undercut. I guess it looks better in hand though

I see what you mean Paul but the lower smaller barrel with the nib, screws inside the upper barrel, you can't actually see the collar its turned to. :thinks:
