After wasting three Mozambique blanks I finally finished my first Omega fountain pen from Dan the man. The blank is a Mozambique Leadwood which has a lovely grain pattern although it doesn't seem to come over very well in the photos. I haven't fitted the ink yet as I'm unsure whether to fit the pump or cartridge, any tips as to the best.

Thats looks worth the effort...nice...:thumbs:again it depends if your selling or using it as to fitting ink...if selling, its up to the client...even when trying...personaly for my own use i use cartridges (Herbin) and keep a selection of colours in both cartridges and bottles:bwink:

I think it might be best left to the client. As a fountain pen user, I never use cartridges always bottled inks. I flush the pen too so perhaps I am just old fashioned?

the catridge or pump could go either way :thinks:
The blanks that got cracked during drilling could I soak them with ca glue and then re-use them
or is it better just to discard them altogether.
Peter... the other one.....no not that one

Great start start Peter.

Just in my view there is a few things that I see could improve on it.

The first picture looks like a very small crack or deep grain mark just under the centre band.

There is a lighter coloured "white Mark ring " at the point where the fittings meet. Around the cap, centre and and also top.

I think it looks like polish from the picture, may be wrong and it could be just the photo.

I will give you a ring later to help explain it and ways around it if you want.?

That's my honest opinion Peter, but I'm sure a few on here will lambast me for it.. :face:

It's what makes the difference from a nice pen to a superb one.::thumbs:

Remember it's only my view.
