I'm rapidly falling in love with this kit. I love the retro look of it, and the shape of the body. This was my first time turning black palm, and I like how it turned out.

Palm is an interesting material. You can clearly see the fibers. I suppose that's what gives it its unique look. Because of its fibrous nature, I was afraid of tearouts, which I did have. But they're small, the pen is for me, and who among us is without flaws? So I left them. I don't like my wood pens to be perfect.

Even among Roses mate there are thorns Palm is as you say really hollow tubes wizened up, cranky but oh so rewarding Jim you tamed that shrew of a blank like the rugged appearance truly represents the nature of the beast.

It certainly looks tricky to work with. I agree with you that wood can be made to look too perfect. You have made a great job of this one.
