Fresh of the lathe today this was going to be my last segmented pen but not all went to plan I made a segmented pen blank out of African blackwood aluminum red plastic and black corian which had sparkles in it asembly went well now to drill it out got just over halfway and the corian decided to exploded into two pieces but true grit and all that cut a fresh bit and we are away drilled and tubed second disaster I had sprayed a tube to fit but in the excitement forgot and glued a plane tube in but didn't realise till after I had turned it and you could just about see the tube through the red plastic and you cant see the sparkles in the corian oh well another day tomorrow I think I will make a bowl LOL

Nice looking pen Woody, great save.

That'll teach you for being so cocky about your "simple" segmenting. You're human after all.

Without the blow out on the corian this would have been the easiest one of all with just one cut and a bit of laminating

Still looks a very nice pen Wood, tube showing does in some cases enhance the pen .. And if Violet gives it the nod, then that is a good sign my friend ..

Great recovery mate. I too think your expert choice of using a plain tube worked well the give the red a real depth  If half of my successful turnings were as good as your mistakes, I would be a happy man. Great pen mate:thumbs:
