Hi all not posted / made a pen for ages - shan't bore you with the details but I've enjoyed keeping in touch with all the developments

I was very interested in the CA comments by Walter, particularly as over the years I feel I have perfected it, but on reflection (literally) whilst they can look like glass they don't look too much like wood and obviously they don't feel at all like wood

Therefore with a can of melamine gathering dust I thought I'd give it a try on my Cocobolo Christmas present. True to form I didn't properly read Phil's post about burnishing with shavings prior to applying, but, and my photo via iPad REALLY doesn't do the colour or the finish justice as the overall effect is beyond stunning - it now looks like wood but it also looks so classy - the Cocobolo i was given is real wood porn and very orange (2" square 12" long) so I thought I'd show you - I suspect It will tone down a bit but I still have it as my favourite

Thanks to Walter and Phil for pushing me into considering alternatives - I'm also going to try the gloss melamine suggested later this week and also try that burnishing touch as well. Proper camera is now high on the list !
