This pen was made for my son-in-law from a lump of, I think, mahogany which he brought back after clearing out his Grandfather's house following his passing. I used a melamine finish for the first time and am delighted with the results. Although you can't feel it from the picture the pen is silky smooth and the grain is beautiful . The pen is a nice memento of his Grandfather for my son-in-law. I have a fair bit of the wood left and will be making some pens other than slimlines with it.

The darker the wood, the harder to photograph.
A tip I got here on the forum was to use a grey background.
That worked a little better.

Great sentiment attached to your pen Ian.

You need a wee bit more light on your subject to show it off a bit better, but I've had a crack at one of your photos so your finish comes over a bit more - I hope you don't mind.
