    BETULA pendula AKA Karelian,Masur Birch.

FRom the Northwest of Continental Europe.

Faberge made an Egg from timber such as this for the Tsar of Russia in 1917.

    Found in Downy,or Silver Birch.

My next door neighbor many years ago used to collect and partake of the sap of his Silver Birch trees, had a Sauna at the rear of his garage.

    Kind regards Peter.

Silver birch is very common around these parts but I never realised that they turned out like that.
