Fancy Trim rings and Redwood Lace Burl

Several years ago I did a bunch of pens with trim rings like these. I haven't taken the time to do one recently, so here is my latest attempt.

Your rings just really set that burl off, Mark. Lovely job.
It would be nice to see the photographs of the process that you have.

I'd be happy to. Will come in two posts.

I turned a straight spindle. then cut the slots with a router mounted on a metal lathe. Care must be taken to get the depth of the cuts, but that is just a bit of trial and error, nothing fancy. Then I cut the inlay strips on a band saw and using a thickness sander (Byrnes) mill to fit the slots.
