Hello gentlemen!
I come here regularly, but I have not posted for a long time. Penpal and his goodwill insisted on showing this one for the beauty of the wood.
I have always wanted to make a pen of desert ironwood, but I could not find a burl that met my expectations.
Patience paid, I recently laid hands on a very nice piece, :banana: not inexpensive though. :rant: It really takes threads nicely.
Enjoy!

I have said before Pierre you are a principal Guru to me ,not the one you see depicted at the top of the mountain but the modest man whose handskills define him. Over the last most of forty years I have seen pictures and Desert Timber in the flesh,none have anywhere equaled that piece. The shape closed is my idea of ideal, the closed ends tasteful and smooth,thread perfect and going all the way from the nib in that shape matches entirely.

Thank you ever so much for showing,I rang Pierre recently to see if he was affected by the recent floods, I enjoy speaking to him. Just north of where he lives when Bonaparte brought in French families and singles a man called Bennier arrived in the group,married a German Woman,they became my Mums grandparents who migrated as free persons in Sth Australia in 1840,s.My Mum was born 1908.

Tis a great pleasure to see your work Pierre,look forward to seeing your metal creations as well.

Kind regards Peter.:goesred::goesred::goesred:

Now that's what I call as a fabulous wooden pen. Beautifully made with the grain on show, all in the right places. Well done for showing us that beautiful pen Pierre, I take my hat off to you mate.
