Tubeless pen kit.

Hi all,Just finished this tubeless kit from Prokraft.No tubes or bushes required.Parts are machined from solid brass.This one is a rollerball,a fountain pen is also available.The wood is Olive.Cap is 13mm wide,closed length 165mm,open length 155mm.As there is no tube the barrel can be any length over 75mm.When the cap is on it is quite a hefty pen,when open the pen sits really nicely in the hand.A different sort of kit,I really like it,what do you fine people think.

I've made a few of these, I kept messing up the brass threads when holding it in the chuck. Finally got some success wrapping electricians tape around the threads, bit of a palaver but cracking looking pen when it's done. How did you mount it in the chuck?

Hi Douglas,I didn't mount the brass in the chuck for fear of damage.I turned the blank to round between centres allowing approx 40mm extra length in the blank.The 40mm formed a spigot approx 20mm dia.The spigot I mounted in my small jaws.Blank was then drilled,nib connector fitted and glued.Live centre then bought up and located in the connector.Blank then turned to reqd profile.I went as narrow as I dared at the tapered end of the blank then sanded and finished.I then parted off the finished blank and completed the job by sanding and polishing the end by hand.
I think this is a better way as putting the brass in a chuck is asking for trouble in my book.Too tight and its busted as you have found out!
