This is rare Thuya burl. Indigenous to the hot, dry region of the western Mediterranean, Thuya Burls actually grow underground on the roots of Tetraclinis articulata trees. Growing in the Atlas mountains around Morocco, the burls must first be unearthed, some weighing up to 1,000lbs, and carried down the mountains on donkeyback. Thuya Burl is considered something of a national treasure in Morocco.

If you turn Thuya burl, I suggest razor sharp tools and fine cuts, it likes to split and is too hard to find to risk blowing up a piece. Finish is CA.

Fantastic burr, a lot of effort in the finish, not sure I would have wasted it on that kit.
Appreciate your work on it though.
