Every few years enterprising wood getters reveal yet another favourite timber for me onesuch is this timber that varies from bright red to nearly black. The indigenous people of Nth Australia promoted a legend calling it Dead Finish known for its hardiness especially in drought time when the legend is its the last thing alive and when it dies everything else went first.

Heavy tough beaut finishing timber hard to photograph the range of colour and tones The lower half right angle cross grain like cutting up an old mallet, tricky turning.

Pic looks this way phase 4 in reducing pics for me, got to conquer vertical pics of pens to 800 by 600.

Kind regards Peter.
