This is the tutorial from youtube to make the bolt pen. If you have a metal lathe you don't need to use the file. I made part of mine differently to the tutorial as I found something that didn't look right to me so I did it my way. It's in approx 6 parts.

Very interesting project Peter especially how he managed on the old lathe with the wobbly tailstock and still managed to do a great job the lesson I got from this is where there is a will there is a way and will think it through if my tools are not quite up to the mark in future.

Yes, I think Skiprat does a great job of of overcoming limitations and I hope it will spur people on to have a go at making a bolt pen, no special equipment needed.

That's interesting. Especially about the sloppy tail stock as thats the issue I have with my Axi AH-1218VS. Thanks for sharing Peter :thumbs:

You can bet that Skiprat fettled every piece of gear he uses to give accuracy I have admired his work for many years spoken with him he is a brilliant Craftsman, Tradesman.
