was having trouble drilling blanks until I made this simple little jig.
May be a little slower than a vice (which I don't have anyway) but it doe's the job.

Forgot to mention the black tube is my extraction system. An old hoover that was being thrown
out it works a treat and is portable to all machinery, it fits on a clip which is fitted to all . Only drawback has to be emptied often.

Two ways around as you say every bit helps. Neat to remove the dust etc from drilling as well emptying small sacrifice mate those old Hoovers go on forever. With two dogs in the yard we have an excellent use for our sawdust early warning signals before clean up. Vic uses one of his dogs as a windsreen wiper in his shed.
