Boiling Wood - The Result

I cut this wood down last week, boiled it and left it to dry on the oven since. Today I turned it and this is the result, finished with 3 coats of lathe wax.

Looks good now, can we see it agin in 6 months to make a verdict.
I think I can see some rents that could get worse in time.
Great experiment and power to your elbow for trying it.

I know what you mean Grump. My gut feeling is that its done what its going to do already because when I've dried the same wood without boiling its split badly on the Aga and when I've got a bit that I dried indoors and it split. This piece of wood was very dry when I turned it however I am not 100% sure so we'll have to see what happens and I'll post it again in 6 months :thumbs:

The bowl looks good Paul with a very nice finish on it.. :thumbs: Yeah, it will be good to see it again in a few months time, hopefully it will not have split .. :thumbs:

Paul, You remind me of Pilgrims Progress or The Ryme of the Ancient Mariner boiling in a cauldron and so on I wait with interest the long term result in the mean time what exciting grain mate.
