Evening people especially any anglers out there.A pic of a rather nice 5lb 10oz Tench I caught recently from a local club lake. One of a pair, the other weighed exactly the same. Not a huge Tench but still a good fish.

You have added to my vocabulary, never heard of a Tench fish, looks edible. One of my brothers in law came from Durham where he and his dad had fishing righs on a stream.I thought that was quaint.

Exactly the same weight? Are you sure you didn't catch the same fish twice?:thinks:

Hi Phil,Definitely two different fish. The other one had a slightly deformed tail.It is fairly common to catch the same tench twice in a session. You release it and it carries on feeding as if nothings happened.Greedy buggers!

Hi Peter, they are edible although it is said they taste very muddy! Us Brits generally release the freshwater species that we catch. The Romans were partial to Tench, also the odd Dormouse or twelve!
