A lot of discussions lately of the old craft supplies in Millers Dale and latterly Bradwell.

I have just come across these, I'm sure a reminder to many on here of the day trips to spend their hard earned wedge on new toys and goodies.

What are your memories?

Unfortunately I am down south and too far for a trip, but I do like an Aladins cave of turning shop:pray:

When I started with the lathe in the mid 90's, I bought most of my stuff from there. Still use the Craft Supplies pen mandrel and have quite a few blanks somewhere in the shed. It was a lovely shop to walk around, always took me half a day.

I was a brilliant place when at Millers Dale, they moved to Bradwell to save money and increase space apparently, sadly closed down now tho Mark.

I can remember many a trip to both of their premises today not one of the suppliers can match the massive selection that Craft supplies had there was always something new to try and there wood selection was the most vast I have ever seen and if you spent £100 you got a free bag of bowl or spindle blanks I always come away with a few bags we used to make a day of it then go into Buxton for fish n chips they are a big loss to us in fact Turners retreat who took them over still sell some of their old cots for £1 each but they are very limited now

I did some courses at Craft Supplies @Millers Dale, bought a Shopsmith MarkV, which I had until a couple of years ago and got a fair chunk of my money back when I sold it.
My gouges today are the same ones from back then (although I keep threatening to replace them!)
Such a wonderful place and top be doing woodwork with the stream running at the back was so peaceful.

Was only talking to Woody about the wood turning courses yesterday, they also had a place in France if memory serves me right.

But yeah, it was a superb place and lovely scenery.

silver - yeah I made a wine table, three footed spindle based and a cabinet.

The place in France was based more around the art courses they ran and I believe the owner got more focused on that and hence him selling out to turners retreat and leaving the mill.
