Her indoors bought some wood from Snaintons a few weeks ago (she spent more than me in there).
The reason was she wanted me to make her some more bobbins for her spinning wheel.

Well I did one today for her. It has an Ash spindle and the end pieces are spalted beech.
I'm not happy with it, lots of tear out. One of the end pieces tried to split down the spalting, so needed lots of superglue.

But Sue's happly with it. :nooidea:

Take a guess
Spalted beech can be a bugger Chas, a coat of sanding sealer before taking the final cut can help deal with tear out.

How do you get the wife to spend more money than you at Snainton, I've been trying for ages!
