Ran out of pen kits so decided to knock up a couple of display stands for the far off day when my pens are good enough to sell.

It's a good idea & well made but use plain timber. My eye went straight to the stand instead of the pens which you want to sell. Your pens should be the standout feature.

Great design but like some I would now go and cut the stand up for pen blanks. Find a bland piece of wood remake the stand in the same design as it is good. Then paint it either white or black so as to make the pens stand out as Bill says.
Still you made a great job on the stand

I was thinking about trying it in maple as it came out a lot livelier than I expected though may try to tone it down a bit. I've got so much oak I could spend years making it into pens.

My sentiments beaut grain top and bottom of the stand outstanding indeed neat idea with as said plain timber only for all those reasons. Handy to be embarrassed by so much great grain.
