    Polishing mops

I recently acquired a set of polishing mops to use on the lathe used them for the first time over the weekend to finish off a Polyester blank. It came up a treat. The blank was a nightmare to turn and sand. I lost two blanks due to blow ups. I bought four I have one left Out of the other three I ended up with the bottom half of a Mistral fountain pen. This last blank needs to make the cap. Fingers crossed.
    Any one using mops.

I use the 4 inch ones on a bench grinder. It saves taking off and putting on more things on the lathe.
The tripoli and white diamond are on the grinder and then the polishing mop I put on the lathe.

I think that they do a great job.

Use them all the time for a fantastic finish on resin blanks and CA finishes.

We have a Beall buffing set for the lathe. Three 8" wheels on the shaft. Use it for polishing CA finished wood pens and on acrylics of all kinds. Usually sand to 400 and then 0000 steel wool (lathe spinning and lathe off lenghtwise) and then buff from there.
