First one I'm posting, but not the first one I've ever made. Home cast red and green epoxy (although that's not obvious from this pic) with cinnamon sticks. Never to early to get ready for present giving season eh? Apologies for the poor photography and crappy background. Pic was snapped on...

    Had my 1st shattering

Turning some acrylic this evening, near the end before sanding the acrylic decided to shatter ! Luckily safety glasses on as bits pinged into my face. Now I’m not sure if it was poor coverage of gorilla glue or what. Cleaned it all off and popped the tube in some wood instead with a Bostic...

    Mistral FP

After all the hassle of losing three blanks, finally managed to produce this Mistral fountain pen in Cherry(?). Finish is melamine - unfortunately, the rushed photo (I had to send it off quickly) doesn't do it justice. Thanks to Vic for the blank (and the other three I ruined!) and Phil for...

    Learning curve

First time really turning acrylic. Still learning. Don't like the clock pen, big chunk of brown at the end near clip but shows whitish instead of light brown in the picture. In my mind its a poor blank should be blue the full length, but who am I to judge. Glen:wink::wink:

    Protection

What is the best way to protect a pen when sending by post. Is a jiffy bag good enough or are there any tubes available at a decent price. I should hate to send a pen out only to have it snapped in half by poor handling. I would be interested to know what experienced pen turners use to pack...
