PEN Making problems

Evening all

I have an issue that crops up occasionally and I would welcome some advice.

Sometimes whenI am making my pens, on this occasion the beautiful Beaufort Scirocco, the pen end does not go all the way in and sometimes it sticks out at the bottom. I know that thus is obviously because I cut the tube and blank down too short in the sander. The nib is sticking out on ly a small amount say 2mm. Is there anyone who can advise on how I can save these pens as I don't want to waste them.

The correct answer is to lengthen the tube/ blank... Maybe glue a 1mm spacer on either end as the fittings are push fit and quite deep on the Sirocco you won't need to worry about the missing tube....guitar plectrums or old credit cards work
The quick solution is to take 2mm off the refill and call it a house pen....
Also fit a less abrasive disc to your sander or pen mill

if you use a pen mill, you don't go to deep on your cuts. As you know, thats all I ever use.

No, not the bin, they can be saved, as I said tap them apart and fit a contrasting/ complimentary plastic 'washer' onto the Sirocco fitting and reassemble..... If you do both ends it will look a design feature....

As Mark says. The extension washers can be made from any suitable material, e.g. aluminium sheet.
If you’re going to bin them send them to me & I’ll finish them & donate them to my charity.
