I finally received my wood lathe to start having a go at pen turning and this is one of my first attempts.
It took me ages to finish (I'm not the fastest learner) but I really enjoyed making it. I think I may just be addicted, onto the next one.

Well done, is it one of the mini bolt pens?

I bought the Olive from Ebay by a seller under the company name Chippendails based in Derby. They came pre-drilled so I didn't have to worry about getting that bit wrong plus I need to get the relevant drill bit yet. I've heard a lot of good things from the makers Colt for drill bits, is this what most people use?

Nice work Lucy. I like the colt drills. Superbly made and give a very clean finish. Well worth the extra money if you're going to be making pens regularly. Welcome to the addiction. I'm sure you'll enjoy it:thumbs:

I bought a 7mm Colt bit when I first started pen turning and it is far too flexible. Unless you are using a kit that takes a long blank with the two half of the blank you can use normal drill bits as long as you keep them sharp.
