Thuya burr and ebonite

Hi pen people.

A bit of a one-off this, and I’ll keep this pen. As I continue working on a design to make the most of the thin vintage cellulose I have, I decided to make a pen with a sleeved wooden section. In other words the internals of the section are ebonite (in this case) and the outside is wood. I’ll have to do this with the cellulose I have as it’s pre-drilled, but didn’t want to waste any in testing this so went with wood to start. Plus if it works for wood then it will almost certainly work for cellulose.

The rest of the pen is ebonite too and, while it came out well, I have to admit I’m not a fan of ebonite at all. It’s the smell and the mess it makes. I’ve got to the stage where making a pen is a relatively clean process for me now, but the introduction of ebonite makes it look like my little shop has been under some sort of attack.

The pen is around 13mm diameter, tapering down to 11 (ish).

The threads are 10x0.75 on both ends of the section.

Overall closed length is 115mm.

That's very different, I like the short thread at the nib section. I also like the inclusion of Thuya, it needs some colour or character and that works well..... Your certainly nailing this idea, really nice job
