    1st real bowl

5 in x 2 in. Quarter sawn English oak, a very hard & dense blank to turn. After trying all my tools (rather aggressive in such a small piece) I used my Sorby micro modular toolset on it and I must say that they worked a treat - the tiny hollowing tool removes a fair amount of wood without...

    Pen No 4

Pen No 4 this year. I received this pen blank in a swap on the PNPTA forum. It was plain pink on the outside and pink not being my favourite colour it spent a lot of years floating around in my blank storage. When I turned it, I was pleasantly surprised. Unfortunately I cant find the off cut to...

Hi Everyone Finally ready to start getting into the pen-making a bit more fully and I thought I'd better get an idea of the pros and cons of the various blank materials. I've got plenty of wood so can always try a variety of different species without worrying about wrecking them. So, grateful...

    Mistral 0.7 pencil in Rosewood

Much faster at these since using Phil's finishing technique. This took maybe 1.5hr from untouched blank to finished item. Spend too much time sanding though, need to get braver turning down to the bushes.

First Kitless pen (Elm Burr w/ Blue & Orange Resin)

Well well well it's finished but it was kicking and screaming all the way to the end. It even had a repair before finial sanding so this pen is made in Elm Burr w/ Blue & Orange Resin I was going to turn in wood first but then Ash suggested I make my first pen in acrylic for the ease of making...
