    Right Kit

Not sure whether this point/ question deserves a thread but: My dad who was a mechanical engineer by trade always said to me, "get the best tools that you can afford". Me, as a sales person, didn't really pay it much attention. I brought a cheap tap and die set and have been 'blowing' the...

    Unknown wood

I am not sure where this came from but I have a couple of pieces of this and this is the first to be turned. I tried to keep the form simple to show off the wood. A nice simple finish of sander sealer and beeswax which I brought off of a local beekeeper who mixes it with a hard wax possibly...

    Fridge Pen bushing sizes

So I brought a fridge pen kit at the weekend for a Christmas present, having read the instructions I now find I need special bushings to turn this. I have a whole pile of different size bushings that I got when I brought some second hand gear, but I don't know the sizes I need. Can anyone...

    I had a visitor today.

I had a very welcome visitor today, it was Keith (Yorkshireman) who popped into the Llandudno centre of Blind Veterans UK to see me for an hour or so. We had a good natter & he brought me 15 pen kits & about 30 blanks to keep me busy. Thanks Keith, I thoroughly enjoyed our bit natter, it was...

    On a roll

After seeing Ken's (hawkeyefxr) post on his very fortunate wood stash the luck must have come down this way as today my sisters arrived for my Aunties funeral tomorrow and they dropped in for a cuppa and a chat. Well to cut a long story short this is what they brought down as a little gift for...

    Been away but back now

Sorry to our forum members from Australia. I wanted to enter the last competition, even had everything ready to go. Also I promised some pictures of the box of Ausie burls I ordered. Unfortunately my wife was rushed into hospital and none of this was done. It's 22:10 in the Uk and I have just...

    Getting ready for casting

Well I have not done much casting for a while so as I sold a little at the rallies I attend I thought I would do some casting and to make the blanks work out cheaper I brought the 5Kg of resin. I also made a 6 tube stand and a 2 blank square mould (which is still drying). So no great piece of...
