    Another pen kit ID please.

Got this one in a job lot of stuff on an ebay auction. Trouble is, no labels on the packet and no bushes. Can someone identify it please. Does anyone know of it'll fit any other bushes I may have, failing that I could just have a go at turning between centers and checking my sizes as I go..........

    That old chestnut

I decided to spend a few hours out of bed today and prepare some blanks for future use, I usually do them as and when they are required and only do 1 at a time. Just never occurred to me to do them in batches. Whilst searching through my kits I noticed I had a ton of kits that I have marked up...

    Another Bushes Question

Does anyone know if there is such a thing as a Bushes cross reference guide? Being new to all of this money draining hobby it will save me making the same mistake as I have done buying all the bushes from Beaufort inks and then finding out they don't actually fit any of my pen kits :vangry:

    Cone Bushes

I have made 6 cone bushes from HPDE and I am wondering if I have done them correctly. The hole for them to go onto the mandrel is 6.5mm so what size should the narrowest part of the cone be? Gary

    Bushes

I have a few pen kits, the majority do not have bushes, Will any bush do for any pen or do I need to buy lots of different size bushes? finally when using bushes we need a snug fit, does that mean the bushes will not fall out when we upend the tube or is it looser than that?

    ca finishing and the weather

Hi guys, I’m new to turning pens, but recently have been having problems with the bushes sticking to the blank after applying a ca finish. I have tried the tapered plastic bushes as well, but find that when breaking the bush off the blank, the finish is chipping. Have tried using a parting tool...

    Unsure on bushes

I've just bought a few pen kits that I haven't tried turning before and I'm a little unsure about the required bushes. Nothing expensive as I still class myself as a beginner. The kits are from Pencrafts and they are Polaris, Vertex and Executive. I've been through the bushes section of the...

    Pen mandrels and bushes

Ok first post as a newbie so hope I don't go over old ground. If pen mandrels have an O/D to suit a standard 7mm tube, why are the bushes I've been purchasing (cigar / elite etc) have a much larger bore size? This only leads to the bushes running a mile off to the mandrel.

    Pen mandrels

Being new to pen turning I'm trying to get up to speed quickly. I'd like to be able to turn various styles of pen. I bought the Axminster deluxe compression mandrel and a couple of pen kits and their bushes. I'm happy with the pens as a start. (took piccys with my IPhone, not good) Maybe we...
