    Hand crafted surfboards

Thought I would share an old photo of a few surfboards and sailboards I made years ago. I have seen a few discussions on pen finish in the forum especially resins, CA etc. I have worked with different resins and finishes all of my life and seen many professional mess ups for sure. The boards in...

    Very lucky/ clumsy

Hi all, A word to the wise, I am a manual worker in my daily job, I am a carpenter at a school. Whilst in a rush to do something today I should have used a vice to hold it, instead I held it in my left hand and when I applied toooo much pressure to the 01phillips screwdriver in my right hand it...

They say the measure of a good craftsman is how well he can hide his mistakes :-)

Mistral ballpoint in jet black acrylic, man that stuff is hard to work. So I had a few issues, firstly the acrylic bubbled and tore away at the thinnest part on the nib end, I had to take the nib section barrel to the disc sander and take about 3/8" off, this then meant I had to take the same...

    Jigsaw Pen

Partly for personal reasons, partly because I have been doing other things and partly because I have only been making run of the mill stock pens for my stall in the TIC at Morpeth I haven't posted here recently, although I have been lurking in the background watching what is going on. I have...

    Tutorial Videos

I've watched a few tutorials & they are always pretty helpful but are there any that cover working when you have a disability or problem that stops you working normally? I have problems with one leg that mean I can't stand correctly (probably not the right word but you will get my meaning) I...

    Diamondcast Fountain Pen

The Diamondcast is called Metallurgy, and is one of my favourites, complex colours. You really don't get the best impression in a photograph. But in the hand these things really pop, they really sparkle in a very 3d way. The kit is a TM Kappa

These pens are hand turned and made from trees either from Dunham Massey Park Estate or from Sherwood Forest and come with proof that they are genuine. Leather Sierra Pens

Great minds think alike Johnny5! I pinched some of Kelvin's Sierra pen kits to practice on, but I didn't quite get my calculations right on the thickness :thinks: Next time I'll experiment with skiving down to the correct thickness at the ends so it meet the components better, I...

    alternative to turning

OK so I got into working with wood a bit by accident, working as a signmaker I bought an old spares or repair CNC knowing that I would be able to rebuild it with my engineering experience. The idea was to produce flat cut letters & sign trays & possibly offer a trade service for those. BUT then...

    Havana in Bog Oak

So my wife wanted a Bog Oak pen to add to her collection. I didn't want the usual pens out there so with Mr Flexi's help we decided on an Havana, quite short and stubby, 4 different size bushes with opposite tapers. Look better when posted. Anyhow she got it for her birthday and loves it ...

After 3 months of trials I am happy with my new pens which I have called the Mystic Pen and will be releasing them at my first show in March. My feedbacks so far have been quite positive, hoping my buyers will think the same ,only time will tell. The pictures show the left hand pen in its...
