I had a mate who imported from his village in Africa ladles and various timbers,this one from a large ladle stem. Difficult to turn because palm timber is made up of roots. Like this contrast with the sap.:thumbs::thumbs:

Another closed end omega, this time in black palm.

I made this pen today using black palm wood, it's tricky to turn but worth persivering with.

Just to add to the interest around Black Palm I made this one - with X cut Black Palm a couple of weeks ago. I chose the wood/grain to particularly match with this Antique Bronze 'Art Deco' style kit - which I think works quite nicely. Tony
