    Firearms time

Here’s a little matching pair. Bolt action Pen in a nice acrylic with a shotgun cartridge matching keyring with the leftover blank. And yes I know the pin is at the wrong end, as I drilled the brass to fit the ring holder I didn’t want to waste it.

Kitless - Emerald City diamond cast

Made a few kitless pens in the last week or so, and I am still very new to this. My main challenge with the first few was the finish on the external barrel threads. Even though they cut cleanly they were always looking a bit lacklustre compared to the rest of the barrel once I’d finished...

    Father and son shed time

Supposed to have been away this weekend but my wife wasn’t t very well so a good excuse for some much needed shed time with my boy. The first pen is his a bolt action dressed with a resin blank - all I did was a bit of final shaping to get it dead straight he did the rest - he’s well pleased. I...

    First attempts.

Hello all. New to this forum and pretty much to turning in general. Hopefully I've managed to attach some pictures of pens we've made recently. I say "we" as most were made with varying amounts of involvement from a number of young lads I work with on the family farm. All of them have struggled...

    Craftprokit European Gold

This kit had been knocking about the workshop for some time so I thought I had better do something with it. Stabilised Spalted Beech (from the local forest).

    Some small bits of timber

A few triangles, some diamonds, a square, and several polygons. It was a "can I do it" exercise. I need to pay more attention to the combination of colors. Not totally happy with the pairings on the ends and the middle strips. (picky, picky, picky).

    Bog Oak Hybrid

I have been selling a fair bit of this blank so thought it was worth a turn. Came up beautifully with a hint of pink shimmer thrown in to the mix. Its on a retro kit and although the bog oak looks very dark in the pictures is actually rather dark in real life too :funny:

Not happy with first photograph which doesn't do justice to this lovely timber, this photo shows a piece of the blank.

    First kitless pen

I just made my first kitless pen. Man it was tricky. Kudos to all you guys who make this look so easy. I spent ages designing and planning it up front but lots of things happened during the build that I hadn't catered for. Also I made a pretty basic mistake in my dimensions during the design...

    Mouse man

Hi all, just a quick Sirroco made with a piece of Oak from the Robert Thompson workshops, famously known as 'The mouse man of Kilburn'. I cut it at an angle to give a bit of character, which I hope it does and finished with a few coats of melamine
