    Ebony twist pencil

I absolutely love the result of Ebony, tough wood to work with though as it is very brittle.

Great success with Phil's melamine technique

Happy with how this turned out, burnishing after sanding did the trick :-) Will see how this now holds up to proper use, it is going to my wife to use for work as a community Nurse. Honduras Rosewood gold click pen.

Last one for today :-), Mahogany and Gold "clicky" pen

Didn't get as good a shine on this one. I'm following Phil's Melamine advice, but doing it from memory so I suspect I missed a step or two. Will read it again and make bullet points of each step and hang it on the wall behind my lathe :-)

    Mistral 0.7 pencil in Rosewood

Much faster at these since using Phil's finishing technique. This took maybe 1.5hr from untouched blank to finished item. Spend too much time sanding though, need to get braver turning down to the bushes.

Zebrano 5.6mm sketching pencil, first time using Phil's Melamine technique

Very happy with how this turned out, and glad to not be using CA :-)

My dream pen - stayed up late to finish this one :-)

I've been having sleepless nights dreaming of making this pen waiting for the bits to arrive. Ebony and Rhodium plated Mistral fountain pen. My favourite project to date and this more than replaces the Mont Blanc I recently sold to pay for pen turning bits ;-) (not sure why the picture has...

    Eliot Pen Kits

Has anyone had experience of making these? I ordered a couple of kits, have made one up. It's a lovely looking pen, save for the white marks, which are my fault. But the mechanism keeps sticking. Should steer clear of click mechanism pens I guess....

    Hi all

Hi all, New to the forum. Been turning for a wee while but just a few months doing pens. Have a passion for fountain pens and mechanical pencils as I also do portrait art and use both in my art. Had owned a Mont Blanc Meisterstuck 146 for 15 years until I realised I can make luxury pens of...

    Latest commission

Hi all, my latest commission..... I was asked to do a 'green' fountain pen in the last throws to what passed as Christmas. I did a double dyed blank which I thought was stunning... But she wanted a hybrid!!... Well I ordered a couple from a certain turner turn caster and they 'melted' just...

Hello! its me, keep popping in to have a look at what you are all doing. Well I haven't been turning many pens lately as lost sense of feelings in my fingers and can't feel the edges of the bushes and added to that can't stand that long either its been a bit of a challenge.. Added to that I...

First Kitless pen (Elm Burr w/ Blue & Orange Resin)

Well well well it's finished but it was kicking and screaming all the way to the end. It even had a repair before finial sanding so this pen is made in Elm Burr w/ Blue & Orange Resin I was going to turn in wood first but then Ash suggested I make my first pen in acrylic for the ease of making...
