    Saving the Planet

Saving the planet. I've just finished converting my old Landrover to electric by swapping the diesel engine for the motor from a tumble dryer. It wouldn't start at first, but then I realised I hadn't shut the door properly. Just going to take it for a spin.

    More Spalted

Another spalted walnut but so different from the last. You just never know what will appear once you start turning. What you think its going to look like is not always what you end up with!

    One from Jim

Hi all, 6 off 6 hopefully the last of this commission? The blank came from our Jim before he gave up pen turning( which I think he's started again) and this forum. It was called Sassy green and was like turning inlace to start with, but sanded and polished like a beaut... The client wanted an...

    Pen Blanks

I decided to do a late spring clean of the shed yesterday due to having acquired a small amount of wood from the scrap bins at a woodyard I went to with a mate of mine. Whilst putting the wood into places I would never forget I chanced upon some Oak that I had forgot I had :rolling: so I ended...

    Greeting From Dronfield

Good afternoon everyone. Many thanks for letting me join what looks like a great forum. I am totally new to woodturning and have yet to turn anything, I am hoping that I have not bit off more than I can chew by choosing pen making as my chosen hobby. I have been working on sorting out my shed...

    Where to start

So today is going to be my first order of tap and dies but I can't afford to buy all the threading taps and dies required to make a pen so I have a quick question what part of the pen should I start and what tap and die should I buy. I was thinking of buying the barrel and cap set at 14x0.8...

Locally grown Mulbery on this one with Conway Stuart acrylic section. I will probably make a wooden section to finish this one off. Just need to save up for the triple start tap and die for the cap now.

    Just an update

This is just an update on the progress of the tractor and loco now that the truck is complete. I have managed to start assembly of the loco and spent about 2 1/2hours turning all of the wheels for loco and tender 18 in all. As you can see it is starting to look the part. The tractor came to a...

    Walnut Hollow form

The first piece completed in 2020. Felt good to be able to start again in the shed after the festive break. I just needed something simple to start the year. Hollow form from spalted walnut. Quite punky in places but managed to stabilise. Decided to add a lid and final. I think it could be...

While I am working on the pierced bowl and doing the painting rather than just sitting and watching it do so i thought I would start another project. This is a vase the top and bottom are not yet glued together as different woods can move at different rates even through the process of just...
