Many thanks, Terry.

I'll put another order in to Timberbits (I only did one the other day!) and also contact Turners Retreat re those Red Polygem blanks (out of stock according to their website). The other colours in the range look a bit wishy-washy to me - have you tried them?

Bob.

Nice pen Terry, can't fault it for plastic I would love that to have been Burr Elm and it does have a burrish appearance,
For those who think the Roman Harvest is too blingy TB does do a blingless one, Its as good as you can get in a kit these days.

You have to make allowances for the Plonkers Dad. The beginners can be excused and the plastic haters just won't even go there.
I rest my case Milud....

That's the thing with this stuff it don't turn or feel anything like plastic it is more like talc or soapstone to turn it turns of in a powder form and it really feels like stone and is as heavy as stone in fact it is colored reconstituted stone

Terry and Woody,

From what you say I take it that gemstone takes the drill and the chisel OK? Does it shatter like acrylic or is it a bit more forgiving?

Bob.

It drills fine Bob but as a precaution I kept the speed down to under 400rpm. I also used a pilot drill first as the barrels are quite large but there was no problem.
As far as using chisels it cuts like butter. On the 2 pens that you have seen there is no polish of any description on the finished article just bare polygem.
I hope this helps !!!!
