Cyclone FP Kit - How much "wiggle room" on cap tube?

Does anyone happen to know if I could reduce the cap tube length on a Cyclone FP by say a couple of mm? I lost a small chunk one end, and for some reason I have tube protrusion the other end (wasn't there when I started turning, I'll swear).

See photo's - sorry for quality.

Yes there is some wiggle room, not sure how much, I know that there's more room on a rollerball..
You could also add an accent band either end, a simple piece of plastic in a contrasting colour. I use guitar plectrums as they are specific thicknesses...:whistling:
