Now you're being selfish, being rude and inconsiderate at the same time. One at a time please, be inconsiderate next week.

Ok Neil, I'll leave you to be rude to everybody all of the time :face::face::face::face:

How did you get on in Germany by the way ?

Request permission to be rude about the Germans and the Americans??

New thread required.

Well I don't find it dangerous at all, it's a lot safer than someone holding the blank against the tool rest to stop it turning with their hand. I don't think that holding the blank with pliers is any different than holding a tool whilst turning, I still have to use both hands whilst turning and in 15 years of doing it I've never had a bit break or a blank shatter but the bit always comes out in the centre of the blank. I feel quite safe in doing it my way but of course if Doug doesn't like my way then he won't do it.

Steve,

I agree with you that its less dangerous than holding the blank stationery with your hand but I can't understand why anyone would want to do that either.

Thanks for all the replies.

As a picture speaks a thousand words here`s a link to a blog post on how I have drilled segmented blanks before. Scroll down a bit.

http://http://mrturnerswoodblog.blogspot.co.uk/2011/06/brick-pen.html

My question was really to see if anyone used a different method, I've a couple of ideas that haven't been suggested so I`ll give them a try & report back if successful.

Thanks again.
