Emco star planer thicknesser

I have the planer thicknesser attachment for the Emco star universal machine that I have made into a stand alone machine.
This was an ebay purchase and it was not until I tried it for the first time that I realised the feed rollers for the thicknesser are revolving the wrong way.
The cutter block is revolving in the correct direction and provides the drive to the rollers is via a small planetary gear cluster which I have taken apart but cannot see how it could work in reverse.
I would be grateful if anyone can shed light on this mystery
