.....and it's bloody difficult.

Usually I have to make my own coffee when I'm busy but lately she's been sneaking into the workshop without warning coffee in hand and in other circumstances I'd be wondering what she's after but actually she's suspicious. "Whatcha up to?" she says looking at the piles of shavings with nothing to show for it ('cos I've quickly hidden it :whistling:) and the look on her face confirms she doesn't believe my reply "just faffing about".

The reason behind this is that we have a notable milestone later this month, normally we don't buy cards or presents for anniversaries but I took that at face value on our 25th and she never forgave me, I'll never fathom the inner workings of a female mind! :rolling:

The book / box is around 10" long by 2" thick made from walnut and the page effect out of ash, I laminated and formed some veneers to make the bookmark / handle. Drawer is also walnut with an oak base and the book is oak with half a dozen printed pages fixed using the secret Belgian binding method I found on youtube, the fake coin came from ebay and all finished with sanding sealer and wax. I fitted a magnet on the drawer end to keep it in place even if turned upside down. The engraved details were cut in lightly using a small V carving chisel and detailed using a pyrography tool.

So it's now boxed up and hidden away to be handed over on the 25th after which I'm hopeful I'll be finally forgiven for my previous oversight though I suspect she'll say it's about time it's only taken me 25 years. Only kidding, she's a pussycat really,

Wonderful forethought mate our next is 67 yrs, they are all important and happiness reminders. ,congratulations on your 50th. On our 50th I secretly diverted to the Church we were married in and gave Wilma another ring, the tears flowed for ages, unforgettable gifts like yours will have this effect I predict.
