Just received this by e-mail entitled Pen

"Hello,

Happy Christmas.

Just to let you know my Dad said it was his best present ever and he thinks you are a genius.

You could say he was pleased with it.

Cheers for now

Brian"

Brian's dad is a 90 year old cabinet maker who's work I admire greatly. up until recently he was virtually blind but an operation on his lens a few weeks before Christmas has given him enough sight to be able to do everything sight folks take for granted.

One such thing was to be able to write again, so I was asked to make him a pen as a Christmas present from his son & wife. It was to be from Brown Oak as this was one of his favourite timbers & I posted it up here a week or so ago.

To say the e-mail has put the icing on the cake for me for this Christmas is an understatement, it really has made my day.

This is the pen in question

Well Doug what can I say except you had better believe both Brian and his dad when they say you're a genius.
Accept no arguments on that score young man but relish in the facts and enjoy the feeling for as long as it may last.

No less than you deserve Doug. I have also been in great admiration of the work you show on here along with a few other extremely skilled craftspeople. It is people like you who inspire me to attempt to up the quality of what I do.

And I'm not nearly blind... the CMM thinks I'm deaf but its only to her. :whistling::whistling::whistling:

Well done, Doug. Makes you feel proud and humble to be able to satisfy an old gent who's work you've long admired, don't it!

Bob.
