I think the problem with driving in the UK relates to its small size 245,000 square Km & its population of roughly 65 million, you're never far from a large populace so driving during the day means inevitable hold ups due to congestion. I'm guessing at over 31 times the size of the U.K. Australia at 7,692,000 square Km with a population of only 24 million distance is more the problem rather than congestion
